On 24 December 1958, the company PRZEDSIĘBIORSTWO BUDOWY ELEKTROWNI I PRZEMYSŁU with its registered office in Sieniawka was established by the Minister of Construction Industry and Building Materials. The company was established as a special-purpose vehicle to implement a construction project Turów Power Plant in Turoszów, together with the associated infrastructure, as well as a number of other projects in the power engineering, industrial, and general construction sectors. 

 

Turów Power Plant in Turoszów
Implemented in: 1959 – 1967
Along with the construction of a major brown coal mine, the Turów Power Plant project was launched – dubbed as one of the “key construction projects of the socialist era”. Earthworks started in winter 1959. A 150 meters high chimney was built in the same year. In March 1960, foundations for the boiler were made using the then-cutting-edge technology of pneumatic cement transfer, which took only 169 hours. In May 1962, boiler no. 2 was used for the first time; in October, the entire power unit was handed over. This project was implemented in two stages: seven power units 200 MW each by 1965 and three units 200 MW each in 1967-1971. Design works were performed in 1956-57 by Energoprojekt in Warsaw. The project was designated with the symbol ‘T’. Back then, it was the largest power project of this type in Europe. The Turów Power Plant was completed in 1965 and put into operation on 20 July 1965. Works included also the associated infrastructure. 

 

 

Kombinat Górniczo – Hutniczy Miedzi in Lubin – KGHM Zagłębie Miedziowe (Copper Mining and Smelting Industrial Complex)
Implemented in: 1963 – 1978

Dolnośląskie Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Elektrowni i Przemysłu constructed over-ground facilities for KGHM’s copper mines in Lubin and Polkowice and "Rudna" mine – the deepest (1250m) and largest underground mining facility of KGHM (10 shafts) and one of the largest copper mines in the world. The scope of works included: cement pumping station, compressor station and railway siding, laboratory, crushing unit, floatation, water piping, and tailing pond. At the same time, auxiliary projects for the KGHM copper mines were implemented: residential buildings, bus station in Polkowice, commercial spaces, bakery and boiler rooms for the hospital in Lubin, as well as an artificial ice rink, facilities for the construction company “Fabryka Domów” in Ścinawa, swimming pools, and housing and canteens for apprentices.
In 1974, the Company’s registered office was moved from Sieniawka to Wrocław.

 

CHP Plant II in Wrocław
Implemented in: 1967 – 1976

In view of the increasing demand for heat power, a decision was made to construct a new CHP plant next to the existing one in Wrocław. The CHP plant II project was broken down into three stages. During stage 1 (1967-1972), 63 facilities were constructed, including two WP-70 water boilers  with thermal power 81 MW each, CHP unit BC-50, heat unit with pumps and a back-up and start-up heat exchanger, berth for the unloading of barges carrying coal, coal storage facilities, and one section of coal transport conveyors from the coal storage facilities at the berth to the CHP Plant, including an overhead sections, reinforced-concrete chimney 120 meters high, water treatment stations including effluent neutralisation and sedimentation tanks, storage facilities for combustion waste in Kamień with a railway siding, 110/30/10 kV power generation unit, buildings with auxiliary equipment, welfare facilities, etc. At stage 2 (implemented in 1972-1976), 2 boilers were built. At stage 3, the third boiler was put into operation.
   

 

 

 

 

“Dolna Odra” Power Plant in Gryfice near Szczecin 
Implemented in: 1970 - 1977
 

Construction of a coal-fired power plant with an open cooling system. Dolna Odra Power Plant is still the primary source of electricity for the Western Pomeranian Province and the main source of heat for the town of Gryfice. Construction of the plant started back in 1970. In April 1974, power unit no. 1 was put into operation. On 4 May 1974 the power plant was officially opened. On 1 September 1974, power unit no. 2 was put into operation, followed by units no. 3, 4 and 5 in May 1975. In 1976, units no. 6 and 7 were opened, and in the same year the company Zespół Elektrowni Dolna Odra was established. In 1977, power unit no. 8 was put into service and the project was officially closed.

 

In 1971, by decision of the Minister of Construction Industry and Building Materials, the Company’s name was changed to DOLNOŚLĄSKIE PRZEDSIĘBIORSTWO BUDOWNICTWA PRZEMYSŁOWEGO. 

 

Fabryka Dywanów Kowary S.A. in Kowary
Implemented in: 1969 – 1976 
 DPBEiP implemented a project consisting in the extension and launch of a new carpet production plant for Fabryka Dywanów in Kowary. The contract covered the following units: a new production hall (total area: 24,000 square meters), welfare facilities, warehouses, workshops, roads and waterworks, multi-dwelling residential units for employees, nursery, canteen, and office building. 

   

 

   

 

    

Górażdże cement plant in Chorula near Opole
Implemented in: 1973  – 1977

Construction of a modern cement facility with a lime plant. Cementing  Gorazdze is still a complex manufacturing materials such  as cement, aggregates, ready-mix concrete products, lime.
  

 

 

 

Fabryka Automatów Tokarskich S.A. at Grabiszyńska Street in Wrocław 

Construction of facilities for Fabryka Automatów Tokarskich Ponar – Wrocław, a leading company in the machine tool production sector. The scope of works included: construction of a production hall (3 sections), technical facilities, canteen, and other auxiliary facilities.

 

    

 

 

Fabryka Maszyn Budowlanych  “Fadroma” at Grabiszyńska Street in Wrocław
Extension of Fabryka Maszyn Budowlanych Fadroma involved building construction and installation works and the associated infrastructure (including transformer station, compressor station, railway siding, welfare facilities, production halls with the total area of 28,000 square meters and cubage of 350,000 cubic meters, dispatch warehouse, as well as storage facilities for paints and varnishes).
 

 

R&D Centre for Mera – Elwro in Wrocław
Completed in 1976
Construction of an R&D Centre for Wrocławskie Zakłady Elektroniczne “Mera – Elwro” (later Centrum Komputerowych Systemów Automatyki i Pomiarów).  
On 28 February 1978, the Company’s name is changed to WROCŁAWSKIE PRZEDSIĘBIORSTWO BUDOWNICTWA  PRZEMYSŁOWEGO NR 3 (1 March 1978 – 30 September 1979)   

 

 

 

 

Meat Production Plant in Prague, Czechoslovakia
Implemented in: 1973 – 1977

Construction of modern meat production plant in the Libusz district in Prague, Czechoslovakia, with the total cubage of 507,000 cubic meters, built-up area of over 7 hectares, and total area of 24 hectares. Complex state-of-the-art technologies were used to implement this project. The following buildings and facilities were constructed: slaughter house, livestock holding pens, cooler, freezer, meat processing units, and the associated infrastructure (transformer stations, workshops, garages, gas reduction stations, laundry room, 8-storey office building, canteen, electronic calculations unit for the meat industry, pumping stations, water treatment plant, roads, parking spaces, yards), as well as a vocational school with sport facilities, dormitory, and 8-storey hotel. 

 

Printing Plants Svoboda in Prague, Czechoslovakia
Implemented in: 1974 – 1976
 

 

 

On 1 October 1979, the Company’s objects were changed; as a result, the Company was transformed into PRZEDSIĘBIORSTWO BUDOWY OBIEKTÓW UŻYTECZNOŚCI PUBLICZNEJ “BUDOPOL – WROCŁAW”, focusing mainly on general construction projects. (1 October 1979 – 31 October 1995)


 

 

 

 

“Kredka” and “Ołówek” Dormitories in Wrocław at Grunwaldzka Street
Implemented in: 1980  - 1990

General contractor in a project involving the construction of two dormitories for the University of Wrocław. Both dormitories were designed by architects Krystyna Barska and Marian Barski. The “Ołówek” (Polish for “Pencil”) dorm is a 19-storey building 70 meters high, with 236 rooms. The dormitory has a club room, canteen, study room, and TV room. The neighbouring dormitory “Kredka” (“Crayon”) was built at the same time. It is a 23-storey building with 290 rooms. A technical and commercial link connects the two dormitories. The 15th floor houses a club and study room for students.
 
  

 

Municipal Cemetery in Wrocław at Kiełczowska Street
Implemented in: October 1994 – August 1996

A modern cemetery in Wrocław both for traditional burials and urns (both buried and kept in columbarium walls). The project also included cemetery management offices, a burial house, and crematory.
 

 

 

 

 

 

Since 1 November 1995:  BUDOPOL – WROCŁAW S.A. 
On 15 September 1994, a letter of intent for the privatisation of "Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Obiektów Użyteczności Publicznej BUDOPOL - WROCŁAW" was signed. On 22 September 1994, the General Staff Meeting approved the plan to privatise the company by selling the enterprise to a strategic investor. A joint-stock company "BUDOPOL-WROCŁAW" S.A. was formed on 17 November 1994 by notarial deed.  The Company’s founders included "MOSTOSTAL - EXPORT" S.A. and 159 natural persons – employees of "Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Obiektów Użyteczności Publicznej BUDOPOL – WROCŁAW” at that time. Founders took over 75% and 25% (respectively) of the Company’s share capital and total vote at the General Shareholders’ Meeting. By decision no. 92 of the Head of the Wrocław Province, the company "Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Obiektów Użyteczności Publicznej BUDOPOL-WROCŁAW” was liquidated as of 12 January 1996. Since 1 November 1995, the Company started operations in the area of building and installations, auxiliary production, and non-material services. By notarial deed of 31 January 1996, an agreement was signed for the sale of property of the liquidated company "Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Obiektów Użyteczności Publicznej BUDOPOL -WROCŁAW". All affairs of the liquidated company as at 1 November 1995 were transferred by the liquidator to the President of the Management Board of the newly established company "BUDOPOL - WROCŁAW" S.A. 1998: first listing of BUDOPOL-WROCŁAW S.A. shares at Warsaw Stock Exchange.

 

2000:  The Company was certified for ISO 9002  

 

2003: The Company was certified for ISO 9001:2000
 

2010: In January 2010, Budopol - Wrocław S.A. Capital Group was established. On 13 January 2010, the Management Board of Budopol - Wrocław S.A. acquired a 100% stake in Budopol GW Sp. z o.o., and on 5 March 2010, upon request of the Management Board of Budopol - Wrocław S.A., the limited liability company  Budopol GW Spółka z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością s.k.a. was registered by the District Court for Wrocław Fabryczna in Wrocław.

On 07.12.2010, the Management Board Budopol - Wroclaw SA acquired, by purchase agreement of 100% stake in the road company Budopol - Zebud Sp. z o. o.
